A VOICE BEFORE A CATEGORY
We look first for a voice.
Whisper Éditions is drawn to writers whose work carries a distinct presence: intimate, intelligent, emotionally precise, and unafraid of personality. We are interested in writing that can be playful, romantic, contemplative or gently provocative, but never provocative simply for effect. Originality matters to us; eccentricity for its own sake does not.
A book may approach contemporary relationships with wit and irreverence, as Flirtinella does, or reduce experience to its most essential form, as in Life in 3 Lines. What connects them is not genre, but a point of view: a way of observing the world that feels recognisable yet unmistakably personal.
We are particularly interested in writers who can move between lightness and depth, authors who know that humour can reveal something serious, that tenderness need not be sentimental, and that quietness can sometimes say more than noise.
BEYOND THE PAGE
For us, a book does not always end at the final page.
Whisper Éditions is especially interested in authors whose creative life moves in more than one direction. Writers who also make images. Poets who work with film, sound or performance. Storytellers whose ideas might take shape through photography, illustration, painting, moving image or an immersive experience.
This is already part of the imprint’s own creative language. Poetry can meet sumi-e, chigiri-e, film and sound; a collection can exist as a book while also opening towards visual or immersive forms. Life in 3 Lines began with haiku and became a dialogue between poetry, image and film. Love in 3 Lines continues that exploration through poetry, illustration and the possibility of experiencing the work beyond the printed object.
We believe that moving between disciplines can deepen writing rather than distract from it. Another medium can reveal rhythm, silence, atmosphere or emotion differently, and when an author returns to the page, the writing often returns richer.
STORIES THAT LEAVE A TRACE
We publish work that stays with the reader rather than simply passing them by.
Our editorial interests move through romance and relationships, poetry, memoir and life writing, and visually led forms of storytelling. We are drawn to subjects that touch the inner life: love, intimacy, memory, identity, transformation, nature, solitude, resilience and the small moments through which a life quietly reveals itself.
Whisper Éditions makes room for the unexpected, for humour and a certain impertinence, but also for stillness. We value books that create space: space to think, to feel, to recognise something of oneself. Work connected to nature, to the senses, to the emotional or spiritual dimension of experience has a natural place here when it is expressed with honesty rather than abstraction.
Ultimately, we are looking for authors who have something more than a manuscript to offer: a sensibility, a universe and a way of seeing. The form may change from one project to another. The voice should remain unmistakably their own.
